Astigmatism following cataract surgery.
The changes in corneal curvature were determined at regular intervals over a one-year period following intracapsular cataract extraction by microsurgical techniques. During the first postoperative month photokeratometric measurements showed rapid changes in astigmatism associated with large changes in the direction of the axis. Thereafter astigmatism against-the-rule predominated. Data from the...
متن کاملRetinal Detachment Following Cataract Surgery
The technical progress in cataract treatment led to the significant decrease of retinal detachment (RD) following surgery. Globally, the risk for RD, 4 years after cataract surgery is around 0.93%. The strategy to decrease the risk for pseudophakic RD includes: preoperative identification of the retinal lesions predisposing to RD, high quality cataract surgery and efficient resolution of compli...
متن کاملNew anti-inflammatory agents.
The pyrrole derivatives la, b and 2a, b were used as precursors for the preparation of N-substituted pyrrole derivatives 3a, b-9a, b and pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidines 13-16. Also, all the newly prepared products were tested for anti-inflammatory activity as analogues to fenamates, and some of them revealed moderate anti-inflammatory activity compared to the standard drug indomethacin.
متن کاملANTI-INFLAMMATORY AGENTS and AUTACOIDS 1. Molecular Effects of Some Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs
Anti-inflammatory drugs produce cytostatic effects on cell cultures and haematopoetic systems, probably by interfering with DNA and RNA synthesis. We have studied DNA and RNA content of edema tissue in acute inflammation (carrageenin and formaldehyde edema) and chronic inflammation (cotton pellet granuloma, granuloma pouch and Fraunds’ adjuvant arthritis) in rats, and seen the effects of nonste...
متن کاملStabilisation of refraction following cataract surgery.
Refraction was performed at frequent, regular intervals for six months following routine intracapsular cataract extraction. Patients were divided into two groups, those whose limbal sections were closed with 8-0 virgin silk or with 9-0 nylon. The stabilisation of refraction was observed, and the most suitable time to prescribe 'first glasses' was estimated retrospectively. In the silk group thi...
